Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2 June 2026
This policy explains what personal data VeloChecker collects, why, and your rights over it. We try to collect as little as possible — essentially just what's needed to run your account and send the price alerts you ask for.
1. Who we are
VeloChecker ("we", "us", "our") is a cycling, running and triathlon price-comparison service operated by JakSystems. For any privacy question or request you can reach us at hello@velochecker.com.
Operator detail to confirm before launch: full legal entity name and registered postal address (required as the UK GDPR "data controller" details).
2. What we collect
- Account information — your email address, used to sign you in and to send the alerts and notifications you request. Your password is handled by our authentication provider (Supabase); we never see or store it.
- Tracking data — the products you choose to track and your alert settings (e.g. a target price or a percentage-drop threshold).
- Communications — records of the emails we send you (sign-up confirmation, price-drop / target / back-in-stock alerts).
- Technical data — basic server and security logs such as IP address, browser type and access times, used to operate and protect the service.
3. How we use it
- To provide the service — let you sign in, track products, and compare prices across retailers.
- To send the emails you've asked for (alerts and account/transactional messages).
- To keep the service secure, debug problems, and improve it.
- To comply with our legal obligations.
4. Legal bases (UK GDPR)
- Performance of a contract — to deliver the service you signed up for.
- Legitimate interests — to secure, maintain and improve the service.
- Consent — where required (e.g. optional communications); you can withdraw it at any time.
5. Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal data. We use a small number of trusted providers ("processors") to run the service:
- Supabase — database hosting and user authentication.
- Resend — delivery of account and alert emails.
- Cloudflare — content delivery and security / DDoS protection.
- Google (Gemini API) — we send retailer product-page content (titles, specs, images) to Google's Gemini API to extract product details. We do not send your personal data to Gemini.
- Google Analytics — only if you choose "Accept all" cookies, we use Google Analytics to measure site usage (e.g. pages viewed and outbound clicks) so we can improve the service. It is not loaded if you choose "Essential only". See our Cookie Policy.
- Affiliate networks (e.g. AWIN) and retailers — when you click a "buy" link you are taken to the retailer's site; the affiliate network may set a cookie to attribute the referral. See our Cookie Policy.
6. Cookies & local storage
We use only what's necessary to keep you signed in, plus security cookies set by Cloudflare. We don't run advertising cookies; analytics cookies (Google Analytics) are set only if you choose "Accept all". Details are in our Cookie Policy.
7. How long we keep it
We keep your account data while your account is open. If you close your account we delete your personal data, except where we must retain limited records to meet legal obligations. Technical logs are kept only for a short period.
8. International transfers
Some of our providers (such as Google) may process data outside the UK/EEA. Where that happens, the transfer is covered by appropriate safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or equivalent.
9. Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to our use of your personal data, and to data portability. You can also withdraw consent at any time. To exercise any of these, email hello@velochecker.com. You can delete your tracked products and account from within the app at any time. If you're unhappy with how we handle your data you can complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
10. Security
We use reputable providers and standard measures (encrypted connections, hosted authentication) to protect your data. No service can be completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to keep yours safe.
11. Children
VeloChecker isn't directed at children and isn't intended for anyone under 16. We don't knowingly collect data from children.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We'll change the "last updated" date above and, for material changes, take reasonable steps to let you know.
